Iceland Backpacking Adventure (7/19 - 7/26)

International Adventure Guides

  •     Join us as we journey to Iceland for the adventure of a lifetime. We begin our adventure with a visit to the world famous Blue Lagoon for a relaxing morning in the geothermal pools.  We'll then explore the city of Reykjavik (the world's northernmost capital city). In Reykjavik you'll have the opportunity to go on a puffin watching cruise, check out the local art and culture, explore Iceland's Viking past, dine on the catch of the day, and of course, explore Reykjavik's famous nightlife. Our stay in Reykjavik also includes a day trip to some of the nearby natural wonders including the famous Geysir (the first Geyser known to modern Europeans). We'll then head East, into the interior highlands to begin the world famous Laugavegur Trek, a "bucket list" trek that is listed by National Geographic as one of the top 20 " World's Best Hikes ".

Each day on the Laugavegur trail provides the opportunity for awe inspiring views, experiences, and memories that will last a lifetime. You'll search for words to describe the beauty you experience as you pass geothermal steam vents, gaze into deep river gorges, cross glacial streams, and journey through volcanic rock formations. This is truly an international trek and you'll be sharing your experiences with fellow hikers from all over the world. After the journey of a lifetime we'll head back to Reykjavik where you'll have time to do some last minute shopping and check out the city before returning home the following day.

"The trip to Iceland was absolutely incredible. Kevin had everything planned, organized, and ready for each of us (eleven, I think?!) who were all completely new to this kind of experience. His own experience and knowledge made him an invaluable guide and not only was he good at what he was doing, but he was kind and became everyone's friend as the journey took place. The gear he provided was perfect, the food he cooked along the trail was delicious, his advice and directions kept us safe and on track, and the friendships made were like the cherry on top!" (Zoe C., Babylon, NY)

"I went to Iceland last summer (2014) with Gear to Go. I had a blast. Kevin (the owner) had scouted the route the summer before. ("I wouldn't take you someplace I hadn't been before.") It was fun, exciting, hard and amazing. I see that Gear to Go is offering the trip again, this summer. I highly recommend going. Gear was covered--and great. Even Kevin's trail cooking tasted great. I'm seriously considering the trip to Greenland." (Fred D., Brooklyn, NY)
